At least 10 pencils (Ticonderoga are best)—these will need to be replenished throughout the year.  
Scissors
3 glue sticks
1 pack of crayons
2 notebooks (wide-ruled)
1 pack of washable markers
2 boxes of tissues
2 packs of 3 x 5 index cards
1 box of gallon-sized zip-loc style baggies (BOYS ONLY)
1 box of sandwich-sized zip-lock style baggies (GIRLS ONLY)
